19th C. Snuff Box

Tortoise Shell Snuff Box.

The lid holds a plaque that reads "G.f.G to R.G 1858".

Beautifully crafted in the middle of the 19th century this box is over 164 years old.

The small brass hinge has come away after years of use so the lid is removable, this could be used as is or repaired if desired.

Inside the lid is a faint makers mark that suggests this could have been made in Edinburgh.

The tortoise shell pattern has age related marks but still holds its beautiful deep colourful charm.

A true honest and elegant survivor of the 19th century.
